An appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanala about the planned development of 11 homes on the Firhouse Road, Knocklyon, reports Aura McMenamin.

Victoria Homes LTD outlined plans for the demolition of existing houses in the Vista Montana area of Knocklyon and the construction of 11 three-storey houses, including one detached five-bedroom house and 10 semi-detached four-bedroom houses.

It is proposed that plans will include road works such as raised crossing at the entrance off Firhouse Road, the provision of on-street and off-street parking, connection to local authority and Irish Water drainage systems and all associated site works.

South Dublin County Council granted permission on November 28, 2017.

An appeal was lodged with An Bord Pleanala over the proposed development by Keenan Lynch Architects on behalf of Knocklyon Mews resident Gerry Bolger.

The appeal states Mr Bolger’s house, 3 Knocklyon Mews, adjoins Vista Montana from the west, with access from Knocklyon Mews which is parallel to Firhouse Road.

The appeal states: “The existing boundary wall between Vista Montana and our client’s house is heavily landscaped and screened, retaining the privacy of our client’s private open space to the rear of the house.”

According to the appeal, the proposed development, which is accessed directly from the Firhouse Road, is ‘entering effectively to the rear of the client’s property’.

According to the appeal, Mr Bolger was not opposed to the development, but instead offered an alternative solution whereby the road access would be on the western edge and with the screen planting retained.
