Over €1m spent on local play space projects

SOUTH DUBLIN County Council have spent over €1 million on play space projects as part of the play space programme.

Councillor Charlie O’Connor put down a question at Monday’s monthly meeting of SDCC asking the Chief Executive “to present a report on the progress of the Play Space Programme and will he confirm future plans in that regard”.

The Council replied that an interim report was presented to the November council meeting in 2016. They said that to date, 17 play spaces have been constructed under the Play Space Programme 2014-2018.

They are at Quarryvale Park; Clondalkin, Griffeen Avenue; Lucan, Sarsfield Park; Lucan, Hermitage Park; Lucan, Aylesbury Park; Tallaght, Rathcoole Park; Rathcoole, Ballycragh; Firhouse, Knockmitten; Clondalkin, Riversdale Estate; Lucan, Killinarden; Tallaght, Avonbeg Park; Tallaght, Beechfield Park; Walkinstown, Brookview Estate; Tallaght, Sean Walsh Park; Tallaght, Glendoher; Kilnamanagh (Tree Park and Park Hill) and Kingswood; Tallaght.

To date €1,142,550 has been spent on 17 play space projects completed at an average cost of €68,000. The council said it is intended to complete the play space programme in the remainder of 2017 and 2018 and it is intended to bring an updated programme of delivery to each of the June area committee meetings.
