Spring Fest de-stress huge success for IT Tallaght

By Jamie Miley

THE sun wasn’t the only thing shining last Wednesday when a fundraising de-stress day was staged on the campus of IT Tallaght in aid of the National Children’s Hospital.

Organised by third year marketing students, the Spring Fest de-stress event saw food trucks and an ice cream van park up on campus, alongside high profile musicians such as anti-bullying ambassadors Fresh Re, who supported Robbie Williams in the Aviva, well-dressed trio Men in Slacks and Britain’s Got Talent sensation, Ryan O Shaughnessy.

Food, music and sunshine were the perfect ingredients for the event, which, alongside raising money for charity, gave students a much needed break from the classroom.

Student Laura O’ Rourke, a member of the organising committee, said that the fundraiser was a huge success, and couldn't have gone any better.

She said: “We were very happy with how the event went.

“We are in our third year now and one of our assignments was to run an event, so we decided to do a relaxing de-stress day for charity.

“We had ten weeks to plan it and our goal was to raise €500, so we’re delighted that the event raised €675 for the National Children’s Hospital in Tallaght.”

The organisers would also like to thank O’ Brien’s sandwich bar and Aras Chronain for their support in making the day a success.
