Jobstown Boxing Club take honours

By Stephen Leonard

JOBSTOWN Boxing Club has seen a number of their young competitors make the podium in various contests. The club has already enjoyed Dublin Championship success with Josh Olaniyan going all the way to the Boy One 52kg title in the National Stadium last week.

Jonathan Hughes has also made his mark in the Boy Three 42kg while Liam Whelan was edged out in the Boy One 32kg class despite putting up a gritty performance.

These displays followed up on the club’s strong showing in the recent Michael Andrews Tournament in which both Chantelle Spencer and Linda McDonald topped their respective divisions.

The former took the Girl Three 48kg title while the latter did likewise in the Youth Two 54kg division.

Chelsea Curley held her own, making the final of the Youth Two 57kg section, only to be beaten.

There is more for the club to look forward to with Ryan Dunne and Jake Redmond bidding for Dublin Championship glory themselves at 39kg and 54kg respectively.
