Lucan young guns enjoy Indoor Championship success

LUCAN Harriers Athletics Club saw a number of their juveniles finish among the medals at the National Indoor Championships in Athlone at the weekend.

Hannah Moriarty topped the podium in the Under 15 Long Jump after clearing a height of 5.7m while Dara Donoghue emerged runner-up from the Under 16 1500m.


Saoirse Fitzgerald also struck gold in the Under 13 600m while Kate O’Connell followed suit in the Under 16 200m.

Elsewhere Lucan’s Lisa Ward was the second woman home and the 27th overall in the Lahinch 10-Mile Race, crossing the line in a time of 1.12:55.

Over in Cheshire, Eileen O’Brien finished up third in the Waters Wilmslow Running Festival Half Marathon with her time of 1.52.37 a whole eight minutes faster than that which she clocked at last year’s event.
