SINCE departing from TV3 morning show Ireland AM Templeogue reporter Anna Daly has been busying herself getting ready for a new breakfast series.
Anna worked on the show for six years and feels now the time is right to move on and create something new.
The Templeogue mother-of-two will front the brand new weekend breakfast show Saturday AM and Sunday AM delving into several different topics each week.
She well be joined by co-host Simon Delaney on Saturdays while Ivan Yates will present with Anna on Sundays.
In the run up to the new show starting this Autumn, Anna took some time to answer some questions from The Echo.

Are you looking forward to fronting the new TV3 show Saturday AM and Sunday AM?
Delighted to be given the opportunity and very excited about joining the new team. At the moment we’re planning the new show and it’s super to be a part of a team like this where we’re developing the new show from scratch.

What challenges come with the new role?
The concept of live, morning television at weekends is new in Ireland so it’s a challenge in itself. Up until now we’ve had the likes of ‘Something for the weekend’, ‘Sunday Brunch’, ‘Soccer AM’ etc but there’s nothing of that ilk that’s local. There’s certainly an audience there so here’s hoping it’s something that will have broad appeal with the Ireland AM audience tuning in but also a new viewer who may not get the opportunity to see Ireland AM during the week due to work commitments.

What can people expect from the new weekend offering?
Expect a little bit of everything from cocktail making to current affairs and everything in between. We’ll be doing plenty of food, wine, entertainment, culture, travel and we’ll have regular news updates, live reports and we’ll have a real family focus. On Sundays it will be all of these things but there’ll also be a look at the Sunday newspapers, the big news stories of the week and regular news updates as the morning goes on.

Are you sad to be leaving the Ireland AM team?
I’m more excited than anything else. I’ve done over six years on Ireland AM and it’s been an amazing job to have but I’m ready to be a part of a new start-up and a programme that I can really put my own stamp on. Simon Delaney will join me on Saturdays and Ivan Yates on Sundays so with my two new telly hubbies, I’ll have a lot on my plate!

What do you like to do in your own free time to relax?
At the moment I’ve a real interest in interiors and interior design and hopefully we can do a little of this on the new show if the appetite is there. Time with my little family is hugely important given how busy I am with work. My boys are only two and three years of age so they’re great fun to be around and certainly keep me on my toes!!

Who is your ideal guest for the Saturday AM or Sunday AM couch?
I’ve told my producers already, a couch with David Beckham (for the eye candy!), Graham Norton (for the stories!) and Barack Obama (for everything!) would be absolutely ideal. That’s not too much to ask is it??!!

Catch Anna on the new breakfast series Saturday AM and Sunday AM which will air from 9am to 12 noon and starts on August 29 on TV3.
