Get the shovel ready, or the JCB, for the coming snow

By Mark Keane

Get the shovel ready for the Beast from the East, or if possible, take a page out of Woodstown Village Knocklyon’s book and get the JCB ready.

These photos were taken in Woodstown Village back in 2010, the last time we had a decent fall of snow - with many, especially children, hoping that we have similar scenes as Storm Emma approaches later in the week.

In 2010 the Woodstown neighbours worked together, with the help of a JCB, to clear the snow from the roads and paths on Woodstown Park, with many communities preparing for the same level of snowfall as weather predictions worsen.

Status Orange

Yesterday, Met Eireann issued a Status Orange snow-ice warning, which is currently valid until tomorrow Wednesday 28 February 2018 11:00 am.

For those braving the weather tomorrow, South Dublin County Council has recommended people ensure their car fuel is topped up, have a sleeping bag and bottle of water on hand and ensure phones are fully charged.
