A THIEF with a taste for fillet steak has appeared before Tallaght District Court.
Sean Byrne stole €240 worth of fillet steaks from Lidl in Tallaght.

Byrne, aged 36, with an address at Cushlawn Walk, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to stealing fillet steaks from Lidl, Main Street, Tallaght, on May 11, 2017.
Garda Colin Hetherington told Judge Patricia McNamara that on the above date, Byrne was observed taking the fillet steaks in Lidl and leaving without paying for them.
Byrne was detained by security and was later arrested.
Garda Hetherington said Byrne had 24 previous convictions, including seven for theft.
At Carlow District Court on July 13, 2016, he had been sentenced to two months jail for theft. Byrne’s solicitor, Padraig O’Donovan, said his client was putting himself at the mercy of the court.
Judge McNamara remanded Byrne on continuing bail to a date in November for a probation report.
