Partnership is doing their part to get the whole community active with their annual walk taking place in Waterstown Park, Palmerstown, at 11am. Lucan’s Operation Transformation Group started their walks last Monday and will continue to keep walking every week from Weston Hockey club with the last walk leaving at 7pm. In Kiltipper, Thomas Davis GAA club have put together an eight-week timetable jam- packed full of leaders, insights into nutrition and exercise, special guest speakers and bootcamps, as well as special events up until February 29. On the final day, the followers and leaders will complete their journey with a final weigh-in and celebration evening, but before that, on Friday, January 10, there will be the initial launch in the club lounge. There are events on every single day with the club, with passes available in the club shop and the full timetable available on the Thomas Davis GAA Club Facebook page. Terenure College Parents Association is yet again hosting the weekly 5km walk along a safe route that starts in the college car park. Coinciding with the TV show, the first walk kicks off on Monday, January 13 with a talk by Professor Donal O’Shea in the Donal McCann Theatre. The walks are taking place every Monday and Thursday at 7.30pm, aside from the first one of course, for six weeks. The group is welcoming everyone to come as often as they can to start the year on the right foot. Starting on Monday, January 13, Brittas Community will start their pursuit to get more active in 2020 with weigh-ins and walks happening every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Mondays will see a free optional fitness class and weigh- in from 6.30pm while on Wednesday there will be the option of an early or late walk before taking a Saturday morning stroll from 10am. Kildare Sports Partnership and Fingal Sports Partnership will host their Operation Transformation walk in St Catherine’s Park in Lucan/Leixlip, with the first walk starting on Saturday, January 18 as part of the nationwide walk at 11am. Although St Anne’s did start with their first walk last Tuesday, the eight weeks of walks and weigh-ins are still welcoming participants – those interested can contact Glenda at 0872780491 or Gerry at 0862253126. Over the forthcoming weeks, there will also be fitness journeys commencing with groups in St Colmcille’s Community School, Greenhills Community School, St Mary’s in Rowlagh, Lucan East Educate Together and Scoil Íosa. 2 news @ echo .ie The Echo, Thursday, January 9, 2020 IT’S THAT time of year again when Operation Transformation hits television screens nationwide and locals are being encouraged to get active and get healthy to start the year on the right foot. All across the county, there are Operation Transformation events that will coincide with the 13th season of the hit show – it all kicks off this week. With the first episode airing on RTÉ One last night, a nationwide walk will commence on Saturday, January 18, in a programme that has seen over 100,000 people take part since its inception.
