Drugs worth €1.4m seized in Tallaght and Clondalkin

CONTROLLED drugs with an estimated street value of €1.4 million were seized yesterday during search operations in Tallaght and Clondalkin.

As part of ongoing investigations targeting serious and organised criminal activity in the Dublin region, two vehicles were intercepted in the Ronanstown area of Clondalkin at around 7.30pm yesterday (Thursday, March 22).

According to a Garda statement, a quantity of cocaine was recovered and two males aged 30 and 26 were arrested and detained under drug trafficking legislation at Ronanstown Garda Station.

Follow-up search operations, which took place in the Tallaght and Clondalkin areas, resulted in the seizure of “significant quantities of cocaine, ketamine and drug trafficking paraphernalia”.

During this operation, controlled drugs with an estimated street value in excess of €1.4m were seized.

The 26-year-old male is scheduled to appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice this afternoon charged in connection with the investigation.

The 30-year-old remains in custody.

The operation was carried out by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, supported by the Special Crime Task Force.

According to gardai, investigations are ongoing.
