Man charged in relation to €5m seizure of suspected ecstasy and MDMA

A MAN has been arrested and charged in relation to the €5m seizure of suspected ecstasy and MDMA in Tallaght on November 20, 2020 –  and is to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this afternoon.

According to a Garda statement released, the man was arrested yesterday, Thursday, January 21, and has since been charged.

As previously reported, Gardai seized approximately €5m worth of suspected ecstasy and MDMA following a search at a premises in the Tallaght area on Friday, November 20, 2020.

In a statement released at the time of the seizure in November, a Garda spokesperson said that during the course of the search, gardai located two large plastic barrels which contained 76.9kg of suspected ecstasy tablets packed in bags and 8.27kg of suspected MDMA in blocks.

In a statement this afternoon, Gardai said: “Gardai have arrested a man in relation to the seizure of €5 million of suspected ecstasy and MDMA in the Tallaght Area on Friday, 20th November 2020.

“The male was arrested yesterday, Thursday 21st January 2021.

“He has since been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this afternoon, Friday 22nd January 2021.”
