Met Eireann issue further weather warnings as strong winds set to batter the country

Met Eireann have this morning issued further weather warnings for the weekend, with strong winds and gusts of up to 110km/h expected in some areas.

The warnings for Friday night Saturday are countrywide, with the south to south-easterly winds on Friday night expected to veer north-westerly on Saturday.


In a statement this morning, Met Eireann said: “There is potential for mean wind speeds of 50 to 60km/h and gusts of 90 to 110km/h, especially in coastal areas.”

The warning follows a Status Yellow heavy rainfall warning issued for today, with accumulations of up to 50mm of rain expected in parts of Leinster and Munster.
