Nine-unit apartments above pub gets go-ahead

A NINE-UNIT apartment development above Crough’s pub in Cookstown, Tallaght, has been given the go-ahead by South Dublin County Council.

The proposed apartment development will have no effect on the pub, which will continue operating as normal.

Palmgrey Limited submitted the plans last year, when they sought permission to increase the floor area of the existing staff accommodation and plant room by 218sq.m on the second floor, and for provision of two additional floors to provide nine apartments in total.

The plans include the development of six one-bed units and three two-bed units, resulting in a five-storey building over basement.

A new lift and lobby area to the rear to service all five floors, a new pedestrian entrance to the eastern boundary and provision of 11 bicycle parking spaces and bin store form part of the application.

South Dublin County Council granted permission for the development last month, with a number of conditions.

These conditions include the removal of the existing unauthorised staff accommodation at the site, the submission of revised plans showing the communal amenity space and circulation spaces being internal to the building, and a letter of permission for the use of the 31 car parking spaces to the south of the development is to be provided.
