A total awards prize fund of €193,000 will be shared by 40 towns with the winners revealed at a gala awards ceremony on December 5 at The Lyrath Hotel, in Kilkenny.

The overall winning town or urban area/village will be awarded €33,000 and the title of Ireland’s Most Enterprising Town, This was won in 2018 by Letterkenny.

There is also a Rising Star category which aims to focus on towns which have overcome major challenges and can demonstrate how they have achieved this in 2019.

Last year ‘The Kells Old Print Works’ took home the trophy and €20,000.

Local authorities and the LEO’s support the nomination of towns, cities and villages/areas on behalf of their own city or county while this year there was an opportunity for the public to nominate their locality.

Also in 2019 are the ‘small towns’ category.
