TALLAGHT’S Unity Flag was flying high at St Anne’s GAA Club in Bohernabreena on Saturday, after Tallaght Community Council (TCC) presented the flag to the club, with the flag serving as a reminder of the area’s past, present and future.

The flag features a green triangle, in recognition of Tallaght’s agricultural heritage and the greenspaces that are an ever-present feature of the area, a red deer which harks back to a deer park that was in the area in the 17th century, and three blue stars – to represent Tallaght’s past, present and future.

Springfield man Seos Ó Colla, who is also a member of the Tallaght Historical Society, designed the flag, and the historical society said the flag “is intended to be a symbol of identity for the Tallaght area and is a true cross-community effort”.

St Anne’s is the latest of a number of local institutions, including The Dragon Inn and Molloys, that proudly fly the Tallaght Unity Flag.

Liz Kennedy from TCC told The Echo: “The atmosphere was great. The club were very enthusiastic about the flag and they were very proud to fly it.

“We gave them a large flag for them to fly on the pole outside the club, and we also gave them a small flag to bring with them when they play away matches.
