Man on trespass charges is due to have leg amputated

A MAN with 64 previous convictions, who was found holding a large pole in a front garden, is due to have one of his legs amputated, Blanchardstown District Court has heard.
Judge Paula Murphy told Anthony Maguire that she will suspend a three-month sentence if he is deemed suitable for working with the Probation Services.
Maguire, aged 37, with an address at St Mark’s Grove, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty to trespass at an address at Convent Road, Clondalkin, on September 27, 2018.
Sergeant Maria Callaghan told Judge Paula Murphy that at 10.35am on September 27 last, Maguire was found in the front garden of a house in Convent Terrace in Clondalkin . She added that he was holding a large pole and he had no reason for being in the garden.
Sgt Callaghan said Maguire had 64 previous convictions.
At Blanchardstown District Court on October 4, 2017, he had been fined €80 for theft.
Maguire’s Counsel, Ciaran McLoughlin Bl, said his client is on 70mls of methadone a day at the moment. He said Maguire had a bad record and has health problems. Mr McLoughlin said Maguire is due to have one of his legs amputated in the coming weeks.
Judge Murphy said she would remand Maguire on bail to a date in April to see if he is suitable to do 200 hours community service. If that is the case she will impose a three-month suspended sentence. If not, she will sentence Maguire to three months jail.
