THE Westbourne Community Group held their first ever 5km fun run/walk in St Cuthbert’s Park, Clondalkin on Saturday, May 19.

The group linked up with the Irish Motor Neutron Disease Association for the event.

Participants raised money through sponsorship cards and entry fees, and will be donating over 50 per cent of funds raised to the charity.

A spokesperson for the group said: “The event was a huge success, it was the first time anything like this was organised in this area, we had a massive local support to make sure all went well. It was a beautiful day. Over 30 people took part including some who travelled from as far as Limerick and Longford.

“The group would like to thank everyone in the IMNDA team for their help and support with the event. We must also mention the unbelievable assistance we received from South Dublin County Council and Clondalkin gardai.

“The parks and environmental teams of SDCC have always supported WCG. Our local community gardai have always been on hand to offer us any support whenever we need it. We would like to say a big thank you to both of these and are hoping to make this an annual event.”
