By Aideen O'Flaherty
PLANS for a 12-unit social housing project for older people on greenspace at Old Bawn Way and Old Bawn Road have now reached the Part 8 public consultation stage. This means that members of the public can lodge submissions on the plans either online or via post.
The plans also include provision for the demolition of a single-storey house that currently sits on the site, near the junction of Old Bawn Way and the Old Bawn Road.
The site on Old Bawn Way and Old Bawn Road planned for 12-unit social housing project
It is proposed that the development will consist of eight one-bedroom, one-storey (two-person) houses and four two-bedroom (four-person) apartments, to create a social housing project at that location for independent living for older persons.
The works will also include a new access point from Old Bawn Way, landscaping works to boundaries and all necessary associated ancillary works on the site and to adjacent areas.
According to South Dublin County Council, all units are to be minimum A2 BER rated, and the layout of the development will consist of two-storey detached units and one-storey terraced units grouped around a central courtyard.
The plans are currently at the Part 8 public consultation stage, and the proposed plans can be viewed at County Hall, Tallaght during normal working hours for a period of four weeks from this Thursday, November 28, or online at the council’s consultation portal, consult.sdublincoco.ie.
Submissions on the proposed plans can be made online through the council’s consult portal or in writing to the council until Thursday, January 16.
