A Consultation process was carried out locally and residents asked for both a play area and a play trail in the park.

The council issued a request for tenders dated June 6, 2018 for the design and installation of a playground and play trail. The closing date was July 9, 2018.

Four companies submitted tenders. All four had the required documents and there were no disqualifications. The highest score was achieved by the Children’s Playground Company from Naas.

The design scored very highly in a number of areas: Variety of play experiences for different ages and abilities, suitability to the site, robustness of equipment and the overall aesthetic.

The Playground comprises swings, equipped sand play area, play shop and Dutch disk plus seating and signage.

The equipment for the playground has been delivered to the site. The construction process will take five to six weeks and is due to start this week.  The play area will open thereafter assuming weather conditions allow.
