PLANS for a 153-unit residential development on the Long Mile Road, on lands to the east of the Assumption National School in Walkinstown, have been granted planning permission by An Bord Pleanála (ABP).

McGill Planning lodged the plans with ABP last June, through the fast-track system, where developers who are planning to construct Strategic Housing Developments (SHD) can apply directly to ABP after consulting with the local authority.

It is proposed that the development will consist of 15 duplexes/maisonettes, seven of which are to be one-bed and eight of which are to be two-bed units, and 138 apartment units.

It is proposed that the apartment units will be comprised of one studio apartment, 54 one-bed units, 76 two-bed units and seven three-bed units, all of which are to have private balconies/terraces.

Provision for 129 car parking spaces, five motorbike parking spaces, and 198 secure bike parking spaces, the majority of which are to be located at underground level, is included in the site notice.

Last April, following a consultation with the developer about the plans, ABP deemed that there was a “reasonable basis” for the developer to lodge an application for the plans through the fast-track system.

ABP granted permission for the development last month with a number of conditions, including the stipulation that the development should be carried out on a phased basis, and that all mitigation measures detailed in noise impact and flood risk assessments specific to the site are to be adhered to.
