20 objections are lodged against apartments at protected structure

PROPOSALS for an apartment block at the site of a Protected Structure in Chapelizod have led to mass objections in the community.
Plans were lodged by Infield Developments last May, which include proposals for a five storey apartment block with 23 units, 29 car parking spaces and a bicycle store to provide 64 bicycle spaces.

Proposals also include the demolition of structures on site including a daycentre, a workshop, and restoration of Leitrim Lodge to it’s former use as a four-bed single occupancy residential dwelling with two car parking spaces.
Over 20 objections have been lodged with Dublin City Council by local residents, St Laurence National School, St Laurence’s Church and the Chapelizod Heritage Society.
Major concerns are focused around traffic and access, with St Laurence’s Church stating in their submission, that an increase in the volume of traffic “will entirely destroy” the area.
A submission by St Laurence NS, states their “concern about the impact of this development” on the adjoining school grounds.
Along with other resident objections, the school feel the proposal is “excessive” and that it is too close to the school building and will “impact school life negatively”.
The Department of Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht, made a submission, requesting the applicant provide additional information by way of a bat survey.
Additional information has been submitted to city planners in the last week, containing an array of reports, proposed elevations and drawings.
The city council have yet to make a decision on the planning application.
