€3,000 worth of books allocated to five Lucan community centres

AS PART of the “€300k have your say” initiative in Lucan and Palmerstown, South Dublin County County allocated €3,000 worth of books to five community centres.
At this week’s Lucan/Palmerstown local area committee meeting of SDCC, Councillor Joanna Tuffy asked the Council for “an update on capacity for extension of the Mobile Library service in Lucan, including estates close to Lucan village and other parts of Lucan furthest away from Lucan Library.”

Cllr Tuffy also asked for an update on the ‘Have Your Say’ proposal for mini-libraries in public places and its implementation to date by the library service.
In their reply the Council stated that the Mobile Library service “is working at full capacity”. In relation to new stops, the Council said they added a new stop at Esker Meadow View which they said “is going well”.
In relation to the books for the mini-libraries, the Council indicated that the budget for the books was €3,000 and books were purchased and delivered to the following centres: Ballyowen Community Centre, Palmerstown Community Centre, Lucan Institute of Further Education, Stewarts Care Day Centre at Rosscourt and Adamstown Community Centre.
