Car-rental office and facility approved for underground carpark at Tallaght Cross

PERMISSION has been granted to convert a unit and part of an underground carpark into a car-rental office and car-rental facility in Tallaght.

ERAC Ireland Limited, who trade as Enterprise Rent-A-Car, got the thumbs up to retain permission for the existing mezzanine floor, stairwell and associated meeting room.

In the second part of the application, the applicant got the green light for the change of use of Unit F1 at Tallaght Cross East from a café to a car rental office.

The successful proposal includes the erection of partition walls to create a reception area, staff offices, staff mess area, WC, store room and staff canteen at the ground floor level.

Upgrade works which include the replacement of the mezzanine floor and stairwell and the installation of company signage to the front of the unit, which faces Tallaght LUAS Stop, make up part of the plans.

Plans to convert the underground commercial car park at Alexander Court, Belgard Square North, to a car rental and car share facility will also go ahead through the re-designation of several parking spaces.

This will comprise of the removal of three car parking spaces to provide a single storey car rental kiosk (28.82sq.m) for a reception area and removal of seven spaces to provide a circulation route and car washing station with two power washers and a wash pad.

Plans outlined that there will be a re-designation of 30 commercial car parking spaces to provide car club, staff, return and rental spaces.

South Dublin County Council requested that 10 percent of the parking spaces provide for electric vehicle (EV) charging.

The applicant responded illustrating how four parking spaces would do so.

Aside from the three staff spaces, the rental facility will be made up of three car club and 24 rental and return spaces which will have four EV charging plug in spots.

Permission was granted for this development on August 11, 2011 by the local planning authority.
