Conor McGregor’s Black Forge Inn upgrade plans

THE Black Forge Inn, owned by MMA star Conor McGregor, could be set for further upgrades, as the company behind it seeks planning permission for works at the Drimnagh pub.

McGregor bought The Black Forge Inn for €2m in 2019 and has spent a further €1m upgrading the premises.

The bar opened it’s doors to the public in July, revealing a fancy looking restaurant area, and a traditional bar and beer garden with branding from the logo of McGregor’s Proper No Twelve whiskey.

Jemi Ventures, which holds the licence for the pub and counts Alan Geraghty as a director, submitted a planning application with Dublin City Council last month.

Geraghty is also a director of McGregor Sports and Entertainment, which counts McGregor’s partner Deirdre Devlin as a director.

McGregor is currently recovering from a horrific broken leg he suffered in his UFC 264 fight with Dustin Poirier.

Ahead of the opening in July, an Instagram post by the premises said: “The Garden Terrace At The Black Forge Inn opens Monday. A new experience coming to Dublin Twelve. We can’t wait to see you.”

McGregor replied to the post off his personal account where he hailed the pub as ‘the best of the best’.

Proposals in the application include the provision of a single-storey extension 104.2 sqm to accommodate additional service and food preparation areas.

This element will comprise an indoor dining area of around 64.05 sq.m.

To the rear of the proposed extension, the owners seek approval for a 32.7sqm outdoor dining area with access from the extension and Hughes Road. It also proposes a canopy over this location.

The application also seeks internal alterations at the existing restaurant’s ground and first-floor level. This could include alterations to the existing ground-floor kitchen.
