Build The Future celebrates Women’s Enterprise Day

Recently South Dublin Local Enterprise Office ran a series of booked out events in celebration of National Women’s Enterprise Day (NWED) 2021 on Thursday, October 7.

The theme for this year’s event was ‘Build The Future’ in what is NWED’s 15th year run by the LEOs nationwide and supported by Enterprise Ireland.

The event has grown year-on-year, and to celebrate South Dublin LEO ran a number of training and networking events for it’s Network of Enterprising Women (NEWS).

Topics included ‘Toolkits for Wellness’ covering work life balance, a ‘DISC Workshop in Leadership Development’ and a networking Cookery Demonstration hosted by local food producer Mindi Keane of Mama Nagi’s, a regular guest on Ireland AM.

Some of Ireland’s best-known female entrepreneurs shared their experience at the online NEWD event including Templeogue’s Clare Tait of Chololatey Clare who’s ‘Go Green’ Practical Steps to Sustainability left members inspired to embrace a more carbon friendly business route.

BiaBelle Beauty were South Dublin’s Leading Lights represenatives on the day. The luxury cosmetics company was founded by Irish sisters Aoibhinn and Bláthnaid and their mom Susan Murphy in December 2017. BiaBelle Beauty has quickly become a favourite with some of the world’s biggest influencers and beauty bloggers.

Pamela Laird on Ireland AM

Terenure local and Apprentice UK semi-finalist, Pamela Laird of Moxi Loves spoke on Ireland AM about the importance of the Local Enterprise Office in growing her cruelty free, vegan sustainable cosmetics company. She highlighted the vital input from mentors as her company has grown and developed it’s international market. Moxi Loves launches in Australia this year.

LEO Head of Enterprise Tom Rooney said: “It is wonderful to have a forum to celebrate the success of local female entrepreneurs on a national stage. 70% of those taking Start Your Own Business Courses this year are women who are making great strides in identifying gaps in the market and establishing business locally, creating jobs in South Dublin.”

NWED is just one of the initiatives of the LEOs aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and assisting companies to start up across the country. Others include Local Enterprise Week, Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur, the National Enterprise Awards and the Student Enterprise Programme.
