Community meet and greet held in Quarryvale
A COMMUNITY meet and greet was held in the Quarryvale Youth and Community Centre on Tuesday morning, with the aim of empowering the community and highlighting local services.
Some of the services that attended included the Clondalkin Citizens Information Centre, Women’s Collective Ireland – Liffey Valley, Ronanstown community gardaí, and North Clondalkin Library.
Also there on the day were the Clondalkin Youth Drug and Alcohol Project, SDCC Creative Ireland, Tús Care and Repair, Healthy Age-Friendly Homes, the Irish Wheelchair Association, and the HSE Office of Suicide Prevention.
The event was held as part of a wider scheme called the Empowering Communities Programme, and it allowed people to find out more about the services available in the area.
“The Empowering Communities Programme (ECP) is a pilot programme funded by The Department of Rural and Community Development and managed by the South Dublin County Partnership,” said Anthony Duffy from the South Dublin County Partnership.
“There are 15 small geographical areas throughout the country that the programme is operational.
“In South Dublin County, ECP works with residents in collaboration with local authorities, services, and agencies in the areas of Balgaddy, Quarryvale and Rowlagh to craft their own responses in tackling challenges they face in their communities.
“For residents attending the ‘meet and greet’ event in Quarryvale here today, it shows an example of the variety of services and supports that are available for residents in the area.
“To be armed with the knowledge of what services are in your community is empowering in itself.”
