Driver threatened and eggs thrown at buses

TEN instances of anti-social behaviour on buses in Tallaght were reported last month, with the majority occurring on the 27 bus route.

Three separate incidents were reported on the 27 in Brookfield, eggs were thrown at a bus, a driver was threatened when youths pursued other youths on a bus, and stones were thrown at a bus.

Two reports were made by drivers on the 27 route of anti-social behaviour on the bus in Killinarden Heights, and an object was thrown at a 27 near Tallaght Leisure Centre.

On the 77A, there were two reports of anti-social behaviour by groups of youths in Killinarden Heights, which included fare evasion, and, in the second instance, the youth interfered with the doors.

Anti-social behaviour occurred on a 77A from The Square down to Sundrive Garda Station in Crumlin, and gardaí were requested to remove the youths from the bus.

There was one incident on the 65 route, which happened at the Jobstown Inn, when youths were fighting in the upper saloon.

Statistics released at a Joint Policing Committee meeting in late February noted that 41 incidents on buses in Tallaght were reported to gardaí in January 2023, compared to nine incidents this January.
