Man arrested after drug seizure in Drimnagh
DRUGS worth more than €464,000 and €35,600 in suspected counterfeit currency were seized during a search operation in Drimnagh.
The seizure was made on Wednesday by gardai from Blanchardstown with assistance from the K District Task Force and officers from Sundrive Garda Station.
According to a Garda statement issued: “Approximately 4 kg of ecstasy tablets, 2.4 kg of ketamine, 3.4 kg of cannabis, 4,695 alprazolam tablets, and 20g of cocaine, with a total estimated value of over €464,000, were seized.
“The seized drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
“35,600 in suspected counterfeit currency, and drugs paraphernalia, were also seized.
“The suspected counterfeit currency is subject to examination by personnel in the Document and Handwriting Section of the Garda National Technical Bureau.”
The statement added: “A male (aged in his 20’s) was arrested in connection with the operation and is currently detained pursuant to the provisions of Section 2 of Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda station in the north Dublin area.”
According to gardai, the male arrested is expected to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on afternoon, Thursday 21.
Investigations are ongoing, gardai said.
