Enjoy beautiful tracks and trails at Ramble Aid

COMMUNITY-led walking event Ramble Aid will be hitting local tracks and trails this September 24, with the HOPE suicide prevention centre in Tallaght Village this year’s chosen charity.

Organised by the Kiltipper Ramblers walking group, Ramble Aid provides local people with an opportunity to enjoy some of the beautiful tracks and trails located on Tallaght’s doorstep – alongside enjoying a fun community day of adventure in aid of a local charity.

This year, Ramble Aid has three walks of varying distances and endurance with a 5km or 12km route of the scenic Bohernabreena Reservoir ideal for family and friends.

Buggy friendly and suitable for all ages, the reservoir is an accessible, peaceful get-away close to home for many families.

Trained and experienced guides will also be leading an 8kmwalk to Maureen’s Brook in Glenasmole on September 24 alongside a more difficult, 13km walk of the Wicklow Mountains – which, taking five hours, will scale the four peaks of Kippure, Seefingan, Seegingan and Corrig mountain.

For further details and advice on each of the three walks visit the Ramble Aid website, where an online registration form is also available.

The chosen charity for this year’s event is the HOPE [Hold on Pain Eases] suicide prevention drop-in centre in Tallaght Village.

Founded by Tallaght resident Mary McLoughlin, HOPE offers support, counselling and a cup of tea to anybody feeling depressed, anxious or suicidal through its weekly drop-in centre – which runs every Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm in Trustus House on Main Road, Tallaght.

The Kiltipper Café Bar, which is supportive of the Kiltipper Ramblers all year round, will be base camp for Ramble Aid – with a community party being staged in the local bar after the adventures of the day.

Ramble Aid will take place on September 24 and for further details or to register, which costs €15, visit www.rambleaid.ie
