Gardai to host National Property Recovery Day in Tallaght, Clondalkin and Lucan

By Mary Dennehy

IN AN effort to reunite stolen property recovered by An Garda Siochana with its owners, a special event is running across Tallaght, Clondalkin and Lucan on Thursday, September 22.

While most property recovered by officers is returned to its owners, some items are not easily matched to their owner and are, for example, recovered in a different area, or county, than where they were stolen or which may not match with the description provided.

As a result, a National Property Recovered Day is being held right across the country this Thursday, September 22, in an effort to return stolen property and provide support to victims of crime.

All of the items that are located in each area will be listed on the Garda website on Thursday morning, with people encouraged to view the items – which will be catalogued.

In Tallaght, officers will be available to meet with members of the public between 10 and 8pm in Tallaght Garda Station, where images of the items for stations in Tallaght, Rathfarnham, Sundrive, Crumlin, Terenure and Rathmines will be on display.

In Clondalkin, the event will be held in The Mill shopping centre between 5pm and 8pm and in Lucan, officers will be based in Liffey Valley shopping centre from 5pm to 8pm.

The Crime Prevention Officer for each area will be present on the day alongside a Garda victim service officer, members of the community policing team and representatives from Age Action Ireland.

For further details visit www.garda.ie, where a full list of items will be posted on the morning of Thursday, September 22.
