THE annual Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE) festival took place recently.
Organised by BCFE music coordinators Liam Caffrey and Eamonn Brady, the event featured performances by musicians from the Rock School and traditional music course run by Paul McGrattan.
Kay Byrne (President of SVP Ballyfermot) being presented with the cheque for the SVP by Cormac Kelleher. Included are some of the students who participated and Karl Moraghan (manager of Tesco, centre back row), and, on the right, Jacqueline Moloney and Joan Condron (Deputy Principal and Music Management Coordinator)
Music Management Television and Film students participated in operating the mixing desk and filming the event.
Students who were unable to attend, were able to watch a live broadcast through a live television link to the canteen area of the main building.
The event featured the handing over of almost €1,300 to Kay Byrne, president of the St Vincent de Paul in Ballyfermot.
The money was collected from within the college and outside Tesco supermarket by mature BCFE students.
Cormac Kelleher, Co-ordinator of the Return to Learning course said: “This resulted from the fantastic work done by the class and the coordinator of Music Management Joan Condron, in getting donations and selling raffle tickets since the start of the month.
“Local businesses were very generous in donating vouchers and prizes towards the cause, and the students were able to assemble festive hampers to be distributed to families in need, in the local area.
“It was a great occasion and BCFE would like to thank everyone who participated in any way whatsoever and to wish all, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
