A day of free creativity for children
CRUINNIU na Og, a day of free creativity for children and young people, took place recently, reports Ryan Butler.
Tallaght Library had a fun-packed programme that started off with a visit from Sarah Sparkes with rhymes, songs, and dancing for little ones.
At 11am., the Big Toy Swap run by library staff started, and people were invited to bring preloved toys into the library from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and, in return, get tokens that could be used to “buy” other “new” toys.
This was the library’s first toy swap as part of the national #BigToySwap. It got a huge response, and it was amazing to see so many loved toys find new homes.
Also, at 11 the library was delighted to welcome a children’s dance and song
performance from children from the Citywest Ukrainian Community. The talent on display at this special performance astounded everyone.
Reuben, the entertainer, then performed a variety show for the entire family with
magic, mime, sound effect, lots of funny voices and ridiculousness.
From 1pm, ‘The Day Belongs to Us,’ an event for 14- 16-year-olds kicked off with live DJ sets by members of NOISE Music DJ Collective on the library floor and two live performances by the SubSounds Collective.
The day was extremely busy, and events were very well attended, Thank you to all the performers, participants and to everyone who attended the library on the day for Cruinniu na nOg South Dublin celebrations at Tallaght library.
