Accept, Act, Adapt: Free webinar on wellness and good mental health

A FREE webinar on everyday wellness and good mental health is being held by St Patrick’s Mental Health Service this Thursday, October 5.

Called ‘Accept. Act. Adapt. – A Conversation on mental health’, the webinar is open to all and will bring together a panel of experts and people with lived experiences for conversations on mental health.

The goal of the webinar is to help communicate information around the acceptance of mental health difficulties; coping with stigma associated with mental health difficulties; and encouraging members of the community to act in order to support their own wellbeing.

It also aims to advise on how, with the right supports, resources and tools in place, everyone can support their mental health and maintain recovery.

According to St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS), the webinar will provide general tips from experts on how to support everyday wellness and good mental health.

It will also provide viewers with the tools necessary to identify and accept their own mental health and to understand stigma as a barrier.

St Patrick’s MHS said: “[The webinar] will outline how to take those first steps if you feel you need some support, as well as discussing the often lesser known topics such as diagnosis, resources, supports and therapy, as well as care plans.

“These informative and encouraging topics will be discussed in the context of the three pillars; Accept. Act. Adapt., with all panelists sharing their perspectives across each topic.

“The webinar is open to everyone; whether you’re experiencing mental health difficulties, supporting someone experiencing mental health difficulties or simply want to learn more about how to build positive mental health practices into daily life.”

The webinar is being held in the run-up to World Mental Health Day, and is part of a national campaign called Accept. Act. Adapt. – which includes an innovative projection installation at The Townhouse at Arnotts from October 9 until 13.

The campaign encourages people to look towards a future where mental health is accepted without stigma and where people take action for their mental health and adapt to support good mental health in their daily lives.

Speaking on the launch of the campaign, Paul Gilligan, St Patrick’s Mental Health Services’ CEO, explained why he hopes Accept. Act. Adapt. will encourage everyone to get involved in supporting and reflecting on their mental health.

“St Patrick’s Mental Health Services is delighted to launch this important campaign to celebrate World Mental Health Day, and to build on progress made to date in creating a future where everyone is empowered to live a mentally healthy life”, he said.

“Accept. Act. Adapt. is a great opportunity to discuss acceptance and awareness of mental health and to encourage members of the community to take action and seek support when it comes to their mental wellbeing.

“We also hope that the campaign will highlight that, with the right resources and tools in place, everyone can enhance and protect their mental health.”
