Adeleke earns Euro Under 18 standard

TALLAGHT AC’s Rhasidat Adeleke secured the qualifying standard for the European Under 18 Championships in Gyor, Hungary in July after she recorded a time of 23.94 over 200m at an International T&F meeting in Oordegen, Belgium last weekend. 

At the same meet she combined with Ciara Neville, Gina Akpe–Moses and Molly Scott in setting a new National Under 20 record of 44.15 for the 4x 100m relay which placed them third on the Senior National all-time list.

Elsewhere, in last week’s Dublin Graded Meet Series on home ground in Tallaght, a number of Tallaght athletes put in some very good displays with Luke Coleman finish-ing third in the 10,000m with a time of 34.14.8.

In the 400m C2 race Conor Barry came home first, clocking 54.61 with Brishan O’ Brien recording 55.17 in second and Ryan Johnson third in 55.67 while Derek Kennedy completed his Grade C1 race with a strong time of 56.19.

In the Women’s A+B Grade 400m race Sarah Doyle crossed the line in seventh while in the Grade C1 400m race Aisling Mc Guinness was first home in 63.20 seconds followed by Lauryn McDermott (65.00) in second and Eireann Hayes (65.40) in third.

Sean McCabe was runner-up in his 800m Grade C contest in 2.12.66 while Stephen Kavanagh recorded 2.26.85 in his Grade D event.

Overseas Joseph Ojewumi produced a great performance in setting a new personal best time of 10.64 to finish fifth in the 100m final at a recent International Track and Field meeting in Tilburg, Netherlands.

Eoin Doherty and Simon Essuman clocked 10.92 and 11.15 respectively in their heats at the same meet where the latter also ran a season’s best time of 50.53 to finish third in his heat of the 400m.
