A TALLAGHT photographer and his dog named Lupa recently became an online hit after a picture of the canine walking through Dodder Park on a foggy night garnered thousands of reactions.

Anthony Kane, who is from Millbrook Lawns and continues to live in the area, began his career as a photographer five years ago and has since taken creative, scenic and striking pictures of many locations around Tallaght.

Anthony told The Echo: “Photography is something that I was interested in before I actually knew that I wanted to do it.

“Someone saw a picture I took on my phone, and told me to get a camera. I started with taking pictures at gigs as I was previously in a band and I had an interest in it.

“Honestly, I take pictures of whatever I think would make a good picture. I love landscape shots, band shots, anything that I can take a shot of.

“My camera is always with me. I don’t try to photoshop pictures, just enhance what’s already there.”

His dog Lupa recently became the topic of an online series of pictures, entitled “Adventures of Lupa” that Anthony has posted on his Facebook page.

He said: “When it comes to Lupa, I started taking pictures of Lupa after a picture I took of her up on Military Road gained some reaction.

“The series is called the Adventures of Lupa. She’s seven-years-old and she’s a poser, she likes to take a stance when she knows there’s a camera.

“I never expected the reaction online to the picture of her in Dodder Park, who would think that a picture of a dog in a park in Tallaght would get such a reaction?

“I had homesick Irish emigrants contacting me after seeing the picture, telling me how they missed Tallaght.”

Anthony now plans to create a series of shots from around his hometown, highlighting the beauty of Tallaght.

He said: “There really are some beautiful parts of Tallaght, there’s some true beauty in spots. Part of it is making the mundane look beautiful.

“We think that the pylons throughout Tallaght are a nuisance, but they can make a beautiful landscape shot or we walk across the bridges of the M50 all the time but it can create a striking image.”
