Annual income reaches almost €2m for Tallaght & District CU
TOTAL income, assets and reserves, have increased at Tallaght & District Credit Union this year.
According to the credit union’s annual report, total income for the year ended September 30, 2023, was €1,970,740 – up from €1,791,190 in 2022.
Total assets for the year ended September 30, 2023, was €70,865,015 – up from €69,117,123 in 2022, while total reserves is €11,625,871 – up from €11,243,923 in 2022.
At Tallaght & District Credit Union’s upcoming AGM on December 11, directors are set to propose a dividend of 0.25 per cent and a loan rebate of 10 per cent to their membership, which is close to 15k.
Chairperson Breda Walsh, the first woman elected Chair of the Credit Union in its 55-year history, is stepping down from her role after serving four years as head of the branch.
In the annual report, Ms Walsh said it has been “an honour and privilege” to have served, and thanked the many volunteers who support the credit union.
Ms Walsh said Tallaght & District Credit Union is seeing “consistent growth in our loan book over the past 12 months” and looks forward to growing this in the coming year with the help of members.

“By borrowing from your credit union, you are supporting local, and helping your neighbours and friends by ensuring we maintain a strong credit union for the people of Dublin 24,” said Ms Walsh.
“The members are the credit union, and therefore I am taking this opportunity to ask for volunteers.
The Board of Directors and the oversight committee, plus committee members are all volunteers and for the continued success of your credit union, we need your support.

The number of registered members as of September 30, 2023, was 14,941.
It has a young base, with over half their members under the age of 30, and the highest number, in terms of demographics, is the 20-24 age group.
Up to 300 new members joined Tallaght & District Credit Union in the last year.
