Another Irish record tumbles for Adeleke
TALLAGHT Athletic Club’s rising star Rhasidat Adeleke set yet another record following her great performance at the National Junior & Under 23 Indoor Track & Field Championships in Athlone last weekend.
After a hugely successful year in 2017, during which she set numerous records in both indoor and outdoor competitions over 60m, 100m and 200m including a silver medal in the 200m at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Hungary, the 15-year-old Tallaght athlete maintained her sensational form with a new National Junior and Youth record time of 23.80 on her way to winning the Junior/U20 200m Final.
There was further joy for the club when Christopher Duffy carded a new personal best time of 49.51 when winning silver in the Junior 400m Final while Michael Ogunsiakan clocked 7.55 in his 60m heat.
Elsewhere, Luke Coleman was the first to finish for the club in the annual Raheny 5 Mile Road Race in which he recorded a time of 26.57 when finishing 31st overall in the large field of more than 3500 competitors.
Padraig Griffin was next home in 53rd with a time of 27.42 and he was followed by David O’ Callaghan (28.17), David O’ Brien (30.49), Laura Mc Donnell (31.00), Gerry Schley (31.06) and Gareth O’ Keeffe (31.09).
