GRIFFITH College Éanna won their first ever Super League title, thanks to a 93- 61 win over Pyrobel Killester in the final at the National Basketball Arena last month.
The Ballyroan side led from start to finish in this contest, establishing a 10 point advantage at the end of the first quarter, 31-21, Sean Jenkins and Josh Wilson making excellent starts with 14 and 12 points respectively.
Éanna’s shooting was exemplary, Matthew McClain’s three was followed by another long range one from Jenkins, to put them 82-50 up by the midpoint of the quarter and they’d close it out to win 93-61.
“It’s an excellent year for us, a very satisfying end to the season it’s our first SuperLeague National title so it’s a fantastic season for us,” Éanna Head Coach Darren McGovern told The Echo.
“They are really a positive group of players to look after and coach all season long.
“The season is all wrapped up now and we are looking forward to a few weeks off during the summer and then we are back into pre-season in August and hope to start the season really well in October,” added Darren
The Active South Dublin Sports Awards are run in association with The Echo, and supported by South Dublin County Council and The Plaza Hotel, Tallaght.
