Are you willing to Rock to the Top?
ARE YOU willing to get your boots on and “Rock to the Top”?
If the answer to that question is ‘yes’, then the walk up the valley of Glenasmole on Saturday, April 14 is not be missed.
“Rock to the Top” is inspired by the story of Tir na nOg’s Fionn mac Cumhaill, who the legend says single handedly through a boulder up the valley at Glenasmole.
This Public Art project run by Ciarán Taylor invites people to recreate this feat.
There are two meeting points on the day – those wishing to do the full 22km walk should meet at Rua Red at 11am, and those who would prefer the short 15km trek are asked to head to Bohernabreena Reservoir Car Park for 12pm.
A group of participants have been carrying a granite boulder in pieces to the foot of Kippure with the intention of making a Cairn stone.
It is now two-thirds complete, and it is hoped that it can be completed on April 14th, with the help of people joining the trek on the day carrying a piece of stone each.
