Army’s Bomb Disposal Team called to Tallaght estate for second time in two weeks

Gardai and the Army Bomb Disposal unit were called to a Tallaght estate for the second time in two weeks after a suspect device was discovered in the early hours of this morning.

The device was discovered in the Cushlawn estate just after 12:30am this morning, and Gardai quickly cordoned off the area, telling residents to remain in their houses, but to stay away from the front of their homes.

Officers then requested the Army’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team who arrived shortly after 3am.

Speaking to Echo.ie a Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a suspect device in Cushlawn Way, Tallaght at approximately 12:30am on Thursday morning.

“The EOD team were requested to attend and arrived shortly after 3am.

“No arrests have been made and investigation are ongoing.”

It is not known at this time whether or not the device was viable.

The latest discovery comes just two weeks after a viable device was discovered in the front garden of a home in Cushlawn.
