By Brendan Grehan
ONE OF the 13-year-old boys charged with the murder in Lucan of Anastasia (Ana) Kriegel is to be granted bail while his co-accused has been remanded in custody by Dublin Childrens Court.
The first boy, who cannot be identified as he is a juvenile, is charged with the murder of Anastasia Kriegel (14) at Glenwood House, Laraghcon, Clonee Road, Lucan on May 14 last, contrary to common law.
Anastasia’s body was found at the disused farmhouse three days after she was reported missing.
On Monday morning last, the 13-year-old was due to appear before Judge John O’Connor in Dublin Children’s Court.
The boy was not present in court. His solicitor, Donough Molloy, told Judge O’Connor that his client was before the High Court.
He said he understood bail had been granted there, but he was not yet aware of the terms.
There was a recess in the case and when it resumed a State solicitor told Judge O’Connor that the High Court’s order was being drawn up and finalised.
Judge O’Connor agreed to a “remand in custody with consent to bail”.
He was also told it was understood bail would not be taken up by the boy for several days.
Judge O’Connor adjourned the case until today, August 2.
The Children’s Court judge has issued a warning to social media users that any attempt to identify them would result in prosecution.
On Tuesday morning, the second 13-year-old charged with Ms Kriegel’s murder was further remanded in custody by Dublin Children’s Court.
The boy, who cannot be identified as he is a juvenile, is charged with the murder of Anastasia Kriegel at Glenwood House, Clonee Road, Lucan, on May 14.
He was charged on July 12 last and has been held at the Oberstown Detention Centre in North County Dublin since then.
The boy appeared before Judge O’Connor. Judge O’Connor remanded him in detention to appear before the court on August 14 next.
