Ballinteer edge out neighbours Boden
BALLINTEER St Johns B beat neighbours Ballyboden St Endas C 3-1 to 0-6 to win the AIG Division 10 Dublin Féile in Tallaght Stadium on Sunday morning.
The eventual winners struck early with two goals from Sarah Fleming and Katie Dillon, but Ballyboden forced goalmouth scrambles of their own that saw goalkeeper Lisa Bergin and her defence into action.
And Boden’s efforts were eventually rewarded with a couple of points to help get them off the mark.
Ballinteer brought on Keelin Keogh midway through the first half, and she had an immediate impact as they struck over soon after.
Buoyed by their improved showing in the later stages of the first half, Ballyboden tried to take the game to Ballinteer, but in-stead it swung back in their opponents’ favour.
As Ballyboden pushed forward they left space to be exploited by Ballinteer’s half forward Cora McCarthy, who slotted home their third goal to hand them a six-point lead heading into the closing stages.
Credit to Boden, they continued to bring the fight to Ballinteer, putting two more points on the board, but they were unable to close the gap.
