Ballyboden march into Senior One Camogie Championship semi-final
A LASER-accurate display over the placed-ball by Darina Ryan helped Ballyboden St Enda’s to a 0-14 to 1-9 win over Na Fianna and a spot in the Senior One Camogie Championship semi-final.
Deployed at corner-forward, Ryan struck over three frees, two ‘45s’ and a brace from play in Mobhi Road but it was not a straight-forward run to the last-four.
Ballyboden St Enda’s secured their place in the Senior One Championship semi finals.
Indeed the Firhouse Road girls found themselves 1-7 to 0-6 behind by the break, but they did not panic and, chasing down every breaking ball, their intensity eventually wore Na Fianna down.
Midfielder Laura Nagle split the posts on three occasions from play as half-forwards Katie McDonald and Claire Kirwan chipped in with a point each and Mairead Luttrell followed suit.
Substitute Ciara Ruddy also got on the scoresheet and the Drumcondra side came very close to edging in front when they sent a free goal-bound.
Boden shotstopper Síle Ni Coitir stopped the close range shot and, with that, her side qualified for the semi-finals with a game to spare.
To be in with a chance of getting home advantage for the semi-final clash, St Enda’s will need to card a win when they face Ballinteer on Sunday.
