Boden see off Lucan to secure Under 14 Division One Championship
BALLYBODEN St Enda’s ran out 4-5 to 2-7 winners against Lucan Sarsfields to land the Under 14 Division One Camogie Championship title in Parnells GAA Club on Saturday.
In what was a repeat of the Under 13 decider a year previous, Lucan were looking to avenge the defeat they suffered on that occasion.

Yet, it was the Ballyboden girls who got off to a great start with goals from Clodagh Reid and Caoimhe O’Sullivan followed by a point from Áine Rafter on their way to opening up a lead of seven points in as many minutes play.
The Ballyboden work rate across the pitch was incredible and should have yielded more than their three scores, but one chance after another seem-ed to slip wide and there were 26 minutes on the clock when Rafter netted to reward all their efforts.
At that stage, Lucan had put three over the bar by way of placed balls from Sinead Daly and they tagged on another just before the whistle to make it 3-1 to 0-4.
Lucan came out strong after the break and spent the first five minutes of the second half camped around the Boden goalmouth, but a great defensive effort meant they could manage only one converted free during this spell.
And Boden eventually lifted the siege as both teams registered two points apiece over the next 10 minutes, with Boden’s coming from Leonie Power while Daly accounted for Lucan’s.
The latter tagged on one more point from yet another free before Shona Kenny pounced on a breaking ball to score Boden’s fourth goal and establish an eight-point lead with 15 minutes remaining.
Reid then demonstrated her ability from the dead ball by converting two long-range frees before Lucan set up an interesting close with two late strikes from Daly ricocheting into the net to reduce the gap to four points
Yet, the Boden girls held on to run out winners and complete a League/Championship double for the second year running.
