Boy pleads guilty to attempted burglary at National School
A BOY (14) has pleaded guilty to attempted burglary at a National School in Tallaght.
He had previously pleaded guilty to possession of €50 worth of cannabis.
This week, he was before Judge Patricia McNamara in Tallaght Court for a probation report on the drugs charge and for mention on the remaining matters.
He was accompanied in court by his mother.
The boy, who has an address in Tallaght, had pleaded guilty to simple possession of cannabis at a location in Tallaght on April 20, 2017.
He is also charged with possession of a screwdriver with intent to commit theft and attempted burglary at a National School in Tallaght on April 27, 2017.
The court had heard that at 1pm on April 27 last, the boy and another boy entered the grounds of the school while there was a number of children playing on their break.
They attempted to force open a window with a screwdriver and then attempted to force open a second window before they were confronted by the principal of the school.
The teenager’s solicitor, Michael Hennessy, told Judge McNamara that his client was pleading guilty to the attempted burglary and the related charge. He said his client and his mother had decided to plead after watching the CCTV evidence of the incident.
Noting the plea of guilty, Judge McNamara remanded the teenager on continuing bail for a month for a probation report on all charges.
