Brilliant McNaughton continues her winning ways
OLD Bawn’s Cora McNaughton and Sean Cronin have secured their first championship of the year by winning the 2024 Munster Sailing Trophy.
The Irish International 420 Class took place last week at Kinsale Yacht Club and the pair of McNaughton-Cronin won a brilliant five out of six races with 20 boats competing.
Sancta Maria College student Cora who is a member of Blessington Sailing Club and Sean who is a member of Malahide Yachet Club, who are current Irish National Champions, qualified first to represent Ireland at the Irish Sailing Youth Nationals and went on to accomplish a 9th place in the Junior Europeans in Poland, this is their first Regional Championship win.
Most competitors do it the other way round.
It’s back to Cork (Crosshaven) in April.
Their next competition will be the Irish Sailing Youth Nationals in Crosshaven in Cork in April where they hope to qualify for the 420 Europeans again.
Cora, Sean and their fellow competitors in the 420 Class have reached a high technical standard and they are privileged to receive such quality training and support from the 420 Class and the fantastic coaching team led by Graeme Grant-International coach.
