Bringing ‘joy and togetherness to our village’
THE Saggart Village Christmas Fair, organised by the Saggart Village Residents Association (SVRA), brought the magic of Christmas spirit to children big and small on Saturday with two local charities the Four Districts Day Centre and Clondalkin Animal Aid benefiting from money raised, which so far stands at €650.
The festive event – a culmination of months of planning by the SVRA Christmas Subcommittee, Sue Dorgan, Sharon Redmond, Nadia Johnston, Ruth Gaj McKeever and Lynn Tierney – resulted in a day of festive joy and community spirit. Planning began in August, demonstrating the dedication of the team to create a memorable experience for the community.
Event highlights included local vendors showcasing their talents at the vibrant market stalls, a funfair, Heartwarming Choir Performances by the three choirs that sang on the day – St Mary’s National School, Gaelscoil Lir and Citywest Hotel Ukranian choir set a magical backdrop to the fair.
The announcement of the winners for the Tidy Towns Poster Competition “Sustainable Christmas poster competition”, with prizes sponsored by Saggart Tidy Towns, added a creative touch to the event.
The event was supported on the day by around 40 volunteers.
Lynn Tierney, chairperson of SVRA, expressed her gratitude, stating: “The success of the Saggart Village Christmas Fair is a testament to our dedicated Christmas Committee members and the volunteers.
“There are too many to thank individually, but we would like to recognise in particular the groups from South Dublin Community Volunteers, Citywest Volunteers and those who dressed up in the costumes. Gardai from Rathcoole and Clondalkin provided Santa with a garda escort to the event. We would also like to thank the stall holders and the businesses. This event is becoming a cherished tradition, bringing joy and togetherness to our village.”
