Bualadh bos for Junior infants book project
A book written by the Junior Infants Class in a local school was launched last Friday morning.
Jenny Ní Dhoibhilín’s Junior Infants Class in St Michael’s Primary School, Ballyfermot have written a book called ‘This is Me’ with the CJ Fallon’s project Our Class Book.
All the children’s parents, Ms Bourke, Principal, Ms Ní Dhoibhilín, SNA Ms Elaine Hennessy and guest of honour outgoing Lord Mayor Daithí de Róiste attended the launch which was held in the Parish Centre, Ballyfermot.
In ‘This is Me’ the children wrote about their likes and hobbies and their goals for the future.
Ms Bourke thanked everyone for coming and for their incredible support over the past year and she also thanked the Parish Centre for hosting the launch.
Ms Ní Dhoibhilín also spoke at the launch.
“Both myself and Elaine are incredibly proud of our class, they are kind, respectful and really look out for each other, we are a team,” said Ms Ní Dhoibhilín.
“We began this book project a few months ago … Since then we have read books .. about different jobs, chatted about people in our community that help us, … we played – we were vets, doctors [and we] worked at the Post Office … in our Class Café – we’ve been busy!,” said Ms Ní Dhoibhilín.
Ms Ní Dhoibhilín was bowled over by her class’s achievement.
“… to write a book together– wow! The boys and girls have worked so hard on their literacy skills, their language, handwriting, pencil control, tracing, drawing, colouring, and Elaine and I are so, so lucky …,” she said.
“Our Class Book by CJ Fallon sponsored this project in St Michael’s this year, giving each child a book to keep. Published at 5 years old – that deserves a bualadh bos!,” said Ms Ní Dhoibhilín.
In This is Me, Aria hopes to become a teacher, Arleigh wants to be a ballerina, and Blake would like to be a Disneyland worker.
Bobby’s goal is to be a Garda, Carter a postman and Cillian hopes to be a zookeeper. Emily wants to post letters with Carter and Gary is going to be a Garda with Bobby.
Georiga would love to be a vet and Gia is going to do everyone’s hair and makeup. Holly will be a zoologist, Jamie a pilot, Leo a bike teacher and Liam a teacher, hopefully in St. Michael’s with Aria.
Mila is going to be a chef, Patrick is hoping to join the Army and Reece would like to be a very fast race car driver.
Reon is going to be a fireman, Serena and Sophie are going to be vets, just like Georgia and although Elaine and Ms Ní Dhoibhilín are already grown up they are doing their dream jobs working in Room 12!
