Business Woman of the Year title for Lucan woman
By Mary Dennehy
A LUCAN resident has been crowned Business Woman of the Year for her homegrown business support company, reports Mary Dennehy.
Angela Canavan is a partner in Canavan Byrne which, founded in 2000, offers HR, Employment Law and Health and Safety support to small- and medium-sized enterprises.
Over the years, Angela and her partner Mary Byrne have expanded and branched into two separate sectors, establishing two separate businesses, Canavan Byrne Childcare and CB and Associates.
Angela and Mary assist hundreds of early years’ services weekly with their unique one-stop shop dealing with concerns such as compliance and paper work.
Angela said: “Starting as a HR and Training company, we have quickly expanded to offer a range of related specialist services for this sector [childcare], creating a very strong niche market underpinned by our unique expertise and reputation. This has given us scalability and we have plans for further expansion.”
In the commercial sector, CB and Associates offer small- to medium-size businesses Employment Law advice, HR support, legal expertise, Health and Safety training, online training and out-of-hours HR telephone support – alongside, according to Angela, peace of mind.
Angela won the prestigious title of Business Woman of the Year in the Dublin leg of the Network Ireland awards programme, and is now shortlisted for the overall Business Woman of the Year national title – which will be announced in Cork at the end of September.
An Active member of Network Dublin, an organisation for Woman in Business, Angela said: “I’m a huge believer in networking.
“As we are a small company our business has been built on relationships and collaboration so networking is a great “fit” with what we do.
“I have met all our associates and strategic business partners through networking in the past, and being a member of the network has helped me expand my business knowledge and learn from other’s success, gain greater confidence in myself and what I can offer.
“It has also opened opportunities and has transformed what was a lifestyle business to a dynamic and growing company.”Visit www.networkireland.ie
