
Cannabis worth €1.6m seized in Newcastle raid

APPROXIMATELY €1.6m worth of cannabis herb was seized in Newcastle yesterday, during an operation which also led to the arrest of a man.
The discovery was made during the search of an industrial unit in Newcastle as part of a garda investigation into serious organised criminal activity in West Dublin on Wednesday, December 5.
The man in his late 30s was arrested during the search and is being detained at Clondalkin Garda Station.
A garda spokesperson said: “One man in his late 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
“The investigation is ongoing.”
Gardai from the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau were assisted by the Special Crime Task Force
